Ampeg B-15N 1967 – Impulse Response Collection
The 1967 Ampeg B-15N needs no introduction for those familiar with the history of the electric bass. Originally designed for recording studios, its deep, round sound with a natural vintage sheen set the tone for soul, R&B, and funk in the 1960s and 1970s. This was the amp of James Jamerson, Carol Kaye, and many of the most influential bassists of all time.
But what makes this collection unique isn't just the amp. It's where and how it was captured.
We used a selection of high-end microphones: U47, MD-421, EB-20 and Beta 52A, mounted in carefully selected positions to achieve maximum fidelity and expression.
All microphones were passed through world-class preamps: the legendary Neve 1073 and the versatile API 512C, known for their analog warmth and ability to bring out every nuance of the sound.
The result is a collection of 11 Impulse Responses:
- 4 Mono Mics
- 6 Blending Mics
- 1 Favorite Mix that summarizes the entire sound experience in a ready-to-play file.
Each IR captures the soul of the B-15N with surgical precision, respecting its dynamics, its natural tube compression, and that magic that only comes when vintage is recorded with modern standards.
Compatible with all IR-enabled devices, whether digital pedalboards, DAWs, plugins, or modelers.
Ideal for recording, live performance, or reamping: transform any pedal or multi-effects into a 60s studio bass channel.
Professional artists are already integrating these IRs into their signal chains, bringing this classic sound to modern tours and productions.
And the best part: what was previously only available to large studios can now be found on your pedalboard in seconds.
